My drawings play with the ideas of space, composition, textures, lines and proportion in relation to the body.  Most of them begin as simple studies that evolve into more complex and dynamic compositions. Different elements from what we traditionally recognize as still life or observational drawing find themselves juxtaposed within abstract settings. The inanimate object finds life and creates relationships amongst repetitive motion, tension, methodical chaos and whimsical stillness.

As I created the mound series I began to experience my relationship with drawing as the archiving of time with every stroke, as each line formed a traditionally spiritual shape the two elements merged. I found beauty in the form, in its stillness, a place that is a lapse between full and empty.  I wanted to give meaning to the mundane while finding peace within the rhythms of building a drawing - soft and meditative action - small but measured pencil strokes in tedious multiplicity and entangled color.
